Congratulations to BRIS 6th grader, Matteo Runge, for his impressive second-place finish in the K-6th section of the 2020 Louisiana State Scholastic Chess Championship held on Saturday, July 18, 2020. It was a very close match in the championship round!

Initially, the 2020 Louisiana State Scholastic Chess Championship event was scheduled to be held at BRIS in April. However, the competition was postponed and moved online due to COVID-19. This would have been our school’s first major event at the state level, hosting nearly 200 scholastic chess players from around Louisiana.

Special kudos also go to BRIS 4th grader, Jacob Stephenson, for his participation in the K-3rd section of the competition.
